NASA
I rented the documentary “In The Shadow Of The Moon” a few nights ago, if you haven’t seen this do yourself a favor and pick it up. It is an incredible piece of human history which documents the decision to try and send a man to the moon and the immense difficulties that had to be overcome to make it happen. There are only 24 people in the history of humanity who have visited another world.
Anyway, this got me to dig up some photos from last fall - I was on a trip with Plan B Skateboards in Houston, TX and we were invited to tour NASA’s mission control as VIP guests. Anyone can get a tour but it is conducted high above the working areas behind a wall of glass. Since a couple key people in the PR dept. had kids who were fans of the Plan B guys we got the full show including getting to go into the original mission control room (which obviously plays a prominent part in the film) which is still intact exactly as it was when so much history was written in the late 60’s early 70’s.

I have an interview in the latest issue of Inquiring Mind which is now up. If you aren’t familiar with their site yet do yourself a favor and check it out, it’s probably one of the best looking, best designed web magazines around right now. Thanks to Greg Washington for the feature.

Tony turns 40
Lebowski cake
Birthday speech
Rooftop and Todd Richards
Shaun White’s Lebowski outfit
Rodney Mullen, Barry Zaritski and Kevin Staab
For Tony’s big 40th birthday his wife Lohtse decided to honor his favorite movie by throwing a big Lebowski themed bowling party in Las Vegas. Throw in about 50 friends and family and a good time was had by all. Some came in costume as there favorite Lebowski characters with the score of the night going to Tony’s nephew John who managed to procure the actual award plaque from the movie with Jeffery Lebowski’s name on it as his gift for the birthday boy. The dude abides.

Random hard drive photos - Rover down
Gideon Choi surveys our Land Rover
Steve rocco used to have a house over on the private island of Lanai in Hawaii. Every so often he would fly a bunch of use over there for a bit of vacation time. Being the big kid that he is his house was flush with all types of enjoyable things, quads, night vision goggles, compound bows, basically anything fun. He also had a number of Land rovers, which on this particular trip Sluggo, Gideon and myself attempted to destroy. We were driving way too fast and rolled it over, Steve and Ronnie Creager were following us a ways behind on quads. When they finally arrived Ronnie thought we were dead beings as there was no movement, however we had just abandoned the Rover and walked to the beach to go skim boarding. Luckily Steve laughed it off. The good thing about Steve is having a good story to tell was always more important than his possessions and therefore he didn’t take it out of our hides (or pay checks). Thanks for the good times Steve.
