Bob Burnquist, Danny Way- mega ramp
Danny Way - mega slam to comeback

Bob in his backyard
What the Mega Ramp does to footwear. Bob’s shoes
Bob took first at the X-Games Mega Ramp, having one in your backyard seems to pay off. The doctors told Danny three times he couldn’t skate anymore after two heavy slams in practice and two more even heavier in his runs, he didn’t listen and got second with Jake following in third.

On a roll
Seems like Paul Rodriguez took the momentum he had at the Maloof Cup last weekend and used it to roll into first this weekend at the Dew Tour in Cleveland. Back-to-back weekends, back-to-back firsts.

Power Trio
This past weekend saw the Maloof Cup go down in Orange County. The contest put on by the Maloof brothers, owners of the palms hotel and the Sacramento Kings featured the largest purse in skateboarding’s history. Jereme Rogers took sixth, Ryan Sheckler came in fourth and Paul Rodriguez walked away with 100,000 dollars for first place. Congratulations to the three.

Tony Hawk Sidekick - T Mobile
Shot the launch campaign for the new Tony Hawk Sidekick device for T-Mobile a few weeks ago. The roll-out consists of print ads, billboards, a website and one of the images being painted onto the side of a building in downtown Los angeles for the X-Games. A big thanks to all the great people at Publicis-USA especially Andrew Lovold and Ted Koszuta.

Jon Favreau for Sundance Channel
Spent Tuesday shooting Jon Favreau and Tony Hawk for the Sundance channel’s Iconoclasts series. Turns out the scene in Jon’s latest film where Ironman is trying his jetpacks for the first time and falls back to earth was created based on the now infamous footage of Jake Brown crashing to the ground at the X-Games last summer. According to Jon if he left the CGI people to animate it it would have turned out to “cartoony” so he gave them Jake’s fall as a reference. Small world sometimes. The show airs this fall.

Built To Shred
Dropped by Paul Schmitt’s house the other day to shoot some photos of Pat Duffy and Bob Burnquist for an episode of Fuel TV’s Built To Shred. This was an eco-friendly edition where they power all the tools with solar collectors and skate eco boards made from bamboo and hemp. An interesting concept to say the least. Paul has done very well for himself (and deservedly so) and now has a beautiful home in Orange County complete with his own private concrete skatepark in the backyard. The show was also an association with Paul’s CreateAskate.org organization which is a program that aims to empower students to learn math, science and artistry skills through the relevance of a skateboard. Stop by their site when you have a minute, it’s a worthwhile endeavor. Watch for the episode this fall.
